SO… a little trivia along with this giveaway.  Hope you enjoy it

A long long time ago in a distant state, on the kitchen table in the tri-plex where I lived…. that is where I made my first book.  That was after spending 6 months after work every day in Borders and Barnes and Noble bookstores reading all the books I could find on the subject.  When I finally bought a few books and started making them it was just a hobby.  AND… they were not leather.  They were a tri laminate of handmade papers to make them more durable than just paper.  So, I wonder, how many of you all out there ever knew this is how Renaissance Art started and that we did not make anything leather at the beginning.  At the start I had less than 10 products in my line and the very first summer art fair I did was in Bellingham, WA.  The booth fee was $150 and I sold $75 of stuff.  My booth was 2 folding card tables covered with burlap.  I was nervous.

We are giving away one of the paper books we made in the beginning.  This book still has the Arches paper we have always used in our books.  This is the book we eventually patterned our medium 72 page journal after.  Here is a pic. Hope you all like it.

I bet you all thot I forgot about this post.  Actually, priority uno is getting orders filled ASAP during this Christmas season.  And with the power out 3 days this week it was not as easy as we had hoped.  Even tonite as I was working to make all the weekend Custom Book Cover orders, the power went out.  Well, enough complaining.  It is still Sunday here and this giveaway is coming in just under the wire.

This weeks Free Giveaway is one of the first prototypes of what we will call our Molesupial.  Put the rear cover of your large Moleskine Journal inside the interior rear pocket.  There is a pocket in front for storing papers and stuff.  It closes in the back with 2 snaps and in the front is a pocket (that is where the mar-supial part comes in) where you can store your pens and other stuff.

This first design used only one snap to close the front pocket flap.  The final design uses 2.  We also did some internal/functional/space changes to the final design which are not apparent in any photo.  The main photo shows the front along with 1 thumbnail image of the inside of the pocket looks like.  Pen loops are diagonal to be able to fit longer pens.  All the loops are a large size to accommodate larger fountain pens or a couple of smaller pens or pencils.  The final version will come with your choice of 1, 2 or 4 pen loops.  When less than 4 loops are selected, a small or large pocket will be added in their place which would be useful for a phone, mp3 player or some other smaller electronic device.
