Free Giveaway #26

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Number 82, Jason, won the free giveaway last week. It was the leather cover for a discbound notebook with 3/4 inch discs.

This week we have another discbound cover and once again for 3/4 inch rings.  Will probably have yet another different one next week too, so if you did not win last week or do not this week, don’t loose hope.  We are building the new prototype on the 1 inch disc notebook.

On previous designs we have done where the rings are hidden inside the notebook, we could only have the notebook attach with the rear cover.  This was for usability reasons.  Basically, if you attached your notebook using the front and rear cover, it would bind up and not close very well.

However, by creating a design with the rings showing on the outside, this issue no longer exists.  This is the first design we are working on in this open ring design.  The one we are working on for next week will have more of a medieval elegance to it.  So, this is design allows you to attach the notebook by sliding the front and rear covers into their respective interior pockets.  The final product will have 2 interior pockets for storage, similar to the post under this one, An Inside Look.  This one does not have any storage pockets.  It is just the initial prototype.  Also on the final version the ring slots will be 1/8 inch wider front and rear.

Just click this link discbound stuff to see what discbound stuff we currently make.  And, all of our stuff is tweak-able (customizable) to fit your own individual style because it is made right in our Santa Fe, NM studio to order.l

So, the item below will fit your 8.5 X 5.5, 3/4 inch disc discbound notebook. It has no extra interior pockets (which the final version will have) but does have a pen loop. Have fun commenting.

An Inside LOOK…

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Two posts down, on the Free Giveaway #25 post, one or some of you mentioned that you would like to see how the inside was going to look.  I am working on the product pages for the new covers for the large size Moleskine notebooks using our Rustic Elegance leathers and… well, the inside on the left is the same.  So, I just thot I would post a pic of it because it is the same as what the inside cover will look like for that coming discbound cover.  Just ignore the moleskine notebook refill on the right and pretend it is a discbound notebook.  Here it is.
Btw… new giveaway will be up tomorrow and it will be for a new and different discbound cover design.

Free Giveaway #25

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Number 68, Ted won the free giveaway last week. It was the leather cover for the large size Moleskine notebook.

So… I am back now from a 2+ week, 6000 mile road trip.  While I was gone Jackie did some prototyping of some new discbound stuff we are creating.  You know… that Rollabind and Circa brand stuff with the discs and mushroom shaped punches in the paper which can be removed and reinserted.  Anyway, we already sell some discbound stuff like our heavier leather covers and modular systems but we are working on a line of covers using our rustic elegance leathers that come in 7 colors.  This one is shown in our cranberry red leather.  The interior of this one has 2 interior pockets.  Our final version will have more storage with three.

The item below is the prototype with a black quarter binding…. our first attempt.  We are also toying with reinforced corners.  It is a little disproportioned which means the winner gets it for free.  We have corrected that problem and these will be appearing on our virtual shelves some time soon with prices to rival… “he who cannot be named”.

The new line will be fun, innovative and while elegant, not the same ole corporate looking stuff everyone else is carrying.  PLUS… it is made right here in our Santa Fe, NM studios and not at some overseas factory in China.  So, you know the quality will be superior and… since we make everything to order you will be able to TWEAK it.

So, the item below will fit your 8.5 X 5.5, 3/4 inch disc discbound notebook.  It has 2 extra interior pockets and a pen loop.  Have fun commenting.

Free Giveaway #21 Week of 6/April/2009

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Number 5, Lisa PT won the free giveaway last week. It was the 4X6 refillable journal with wrap and tie closure. Please email us with your name and address to get your free giveaway from last week :)

Now… onto the new stuff.  If you have already skipped to the photo and are wondering what the hoopin hoola is that… well… that is the original prototype for our modular bag which connects to our modular discbound systems like Rollabind and Circa brand.  To see the final version go HERE and… don’t laugh… this was our very first try.  It is a really cool bag… just not what we ended up with.

Btw folks… we have 2 size modular bags… one each for the modular discbound covers fitting the 5.5X8.5 and 8.5X11 discbound notebooks.  This was the prototype for the smaller of the two.  We are building on this system to incorporate it into modular laptop cases, drawing folios and notebooks and some other secret stuff.  So, if you already own or will be owning one of our modular bags, it will be connecting into some other things in the future.

You can see our modular stuff by going HERE.

We still have on Special our 4X6 refillable journal at a 40% discount.

Free Giveaway #14 and #15 WeekS of 7, 14/Feb/2009

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Sorry everyone… late in getting this posted this week…. very busy week…. Bad Artbeast!  This will run thru late Sunday so as many as possible can get comments in for the drawing.

This has been popular in the past and I wanted to get away from the Has Been box with all the Discbound and Moleskine cover stuff so this week we are giving away one of our 108 page Medium Journals, one with a wrap and tie closure or one with a strap.  I will let the winner pick.  More info on this journal can be found HERE.

Pics are below and… as usual, click HERE to read the rules of this Free Giveaway.

Here are the pics representing these two different closures.

Free Giveaway #11 Week of 17/Jan/2009

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

This week we pulled something Discbound out of the Has Been box.  It is a  Standard cover for a letter size discbound book with 1/2 inch rings.  The final product can be seen HERE and is 1/8 inch higher so the notebook will slide in and out more easily.   This model has one big pocket on the inside front cover for “stuff”.  It closes with a snap and oops… when fitting the snap on this one we goofed.  So there is one extra hole which cannot be seen when the cover is closed.

Here is the basic pic taken from Arthur’s randomized desk (another blog post).

Election Day at Renaissance Art

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Well, election day here and in the studio it is pretty much the same as any other day.  New Mexico is an early voting state so everyone here who is going to vote has already done so.  We are hiring, so this week has been full of interviews… three yesterday and four today.  More tomorrow too.  Guess who does those?  LaShanda is out for the rest of the week on vacation (she already voted too) so that will put a little pressure on getting things like book covers and all sewn up and our bags and discbound stuff out as well.

OH… and I decided on what the free giveaway will be although I have not yet decided when it will be formally posted.  But, yesterday I saw this extra lonesome small modular bag laying on the bottom shelf of a table.  So I thot that would be a most excellent giveaway.  After all, it is not getting used down there and I already have the original, inferior, prototype.  So, I will formally post it later this week to see who gets it.
