- Free Giveaway #25
Number 68, Ted won the free giveaway last week. It was the leather cover for the large size Moleskine notebook.
So… I am back now from a 2+ week, 6000 mile road trip. While I was gone Jackie did some prototyping of some new discbound stuff we are creating. You know… that Rollabind and Circa brand stuff with the discs and mushroom shaped punches in the paper which can be removed and reinserted. Anyway, we already sell some discbound stuff like our heavier leather covers and modular systems but we are working on a line of covers using our rustic elegance leathers that come in 7 colors. This one is shown in our cranberry red leather. The interior of this one has 2 interior pockets. Our final version will have more storage with three.
The item below is the prototype with a black quarter binding…. our first attempt. We are also toying with reinforced corners. It is a little disproportioned which means the winner gets it for free. We have corrected that problem and these will be appearing on our virtual shelves some time soon with prices to rival… “he who cannot be named”.
The new line will be fun, innovative and while elegant, not the same ole corporate looking stuff everyone else is carrying. PLUS… it is made right here in our Santa Fe, NM studios and not at some overseas factory in China. So, you know the quality will be superior and… since we make everything to order you will be able to TWEAK it.
So, the item below will fit your 8.5 X 5.5, 3/4 inch disc discbound notebook. It has 2 extra interior pockets and a pen loop. Have fun commenting.
Remember that the winners need to contact us with their address and phone number in order to get their gift.
As usual, click HERE to read the rules of this Free Giveaway BUT do not comment on that link to enter. You enter by commenting on THIS THIS post.

That is great, and so much more interesting than the standard disk-bound leather covers. If this is a prototype, the production is going to be gorgeous. Keep it up, and I’ll start saving for a full-size cover.

June 4th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
It’s such a deep rich colour!! I absolutely love it!!
June 4th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Looks a lot nicer than the one I’m currently using which has the name of the company I was laid off from…
June 4th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
I’m a crusty old curmudgeon when it comes to entering contests, but I saw this black and magenta binder in an FPN post and immediately knew it was something my daughter would love to have. She’s a college student and is very organized with different journals and notebooks. I’d be happy to buy her a punch for this binder so that she could organize things the way she wants. She loves colors like that magenta (her favorite fountain pen inks are shades of this color).
And I have the perfect paper for this notebook: Domtar Solutions 105 gsm paper. It’s great with fountain pens and can be run through a laser printer to put a desired ruling pattern on it. Hmmm, if I don’t win this binder in the drawing, I’ll probably still have to buy one…
June 4th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
OK, that’s the right shade of red, for sure. Very pretty.
June 4th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
This is GREAT~! Love the colors and the wavy design on the color blocking.
Hope I can win~!
June 4th, 2009 at 4:02 pm

June 4th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
Beautiful color!

It’s lovely. Much nicer than the plastic covers I use now.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Very nice! Thanks for the chance to win!
June 4th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
Definitely innovative. This is the type of stuff my wife is always trying to get me to buy. Nice work.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Looks great! Throw my name in there!
June 4th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
That’s pretty! I usually like the more traditional brown and black styles, but that one is quite striking. I like it!
June 4th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
woof
June 4th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
It’s beautiful! Love the colors.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
That looks beautiful - I’ve been wanting to try a disc based notebook - maybe this will be the motivation to give it a shot. Here’s to hoping!
June 4th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
This is sooo great looking! I love that you are branching out into more colors, some times black and brown are just too grim for the levity of my thoughts.
June 4th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I would love to have this!!!!! Pick me! Pick me!!
June 4th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Nice, but wouldn’t take it to a business meeting!
June 4th, 2009 at 7:01 pm

I had great luck with Field Notes last week; maybe this will be another lucky week.
“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” - William Morris.
Your book fits both criteria!
June 4th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Oh, yum!

It looks like Yin and Yang
Very nice!
June 5th, 2009 at 2:21 am
Wow, nice new design.
June 5th, 2009 at 3:28 am
This is bee-you-tee-ful!! Pulling this out in the morning would start each day with a smile — I love the intense cranberry color.
If you make a model with “more storage,” will it still take 3/4″ rings?
June 5th, 2009 at 4:07 am
I have been looking for a journal with a nice cover without success. Maybe I should have been looking for a journal cover all along.

June 6th, 2009 at 10:57 am
This is something my wife would love. Nice design.
June 6th, 2009 at 11:59 am
I like the colours and the concept, but it doesn’t look quite right visually to me.
Personally, I’d make the narrow black section narrower and the wide section a bit wider at the bottom, so there is a bit more of a ying/yang balance.
June 6th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Love it! I always appreciate the quality Renaissance Art’s designs.
June 6th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Oh that photo is a tease, I want to see the inside. The color is fantastic and I hope you will offer some brown leather combinations once it goes on the shelves!

Am trying again, as I love the look of this one!

BTW, this blog entry has not been properly tagged as a ‘giveaway’.
June 6th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
I cannot quite tell if it’s cranberry or garnet. If it’s Garnet, I’m custom ordering mine with a Gamecock on it!

Looks absolutely gorgeous. Wonder if it has a good tactile feel to it too…
June 8th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Looks nice. If you do reinforced corners, you should use a narrower strip of black binding. I see those disc bindings everywhere on-line, but haven’t actually tried one in person.
June 8th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
Looks really nice. I can almost smell the leather from the picture.
