FREE GIVEAWAYS
Cool Prototypes, seconds… even firsts…
We want to have some fun and so we thought we would start a weekly program where we give away all this stuff. So, here’s the deal:
- Once a week on any random day
- Starting the first week in Nov, 2008
- We will post a prototype, a second, a first, an experiment… basically something we have made and give it away.
- From the post date thru the following Friday, everyone who comments will be elegible to win the posted item for FREE.
- It used to be the first one to comment won the item but we have changed that with the 10th giveaway. NOW, all the comments from post date thru that Friday will be eligible. We will take everyone who has made a comment and use the randomizer at Random.org to determine the winner. The winner will be named the following week. Yes, we will post a pic although it will just be a working pic taken on one of our studio tables.
- We’ll need a valid email address to work out the details of getting your prize to you. Each prize also includes free ground shipping in the lower 48 US states only. However, anyone in the world can feel free to play along. Who knows what you might win!
So come to our blog often cuz you never what we are going to post or when we will post it.
This offer is for everyone. You do not need to be a customer. We just hope that what we offer will be useful to you.
The same person can only win once in a month.

It’s a lovely design but I’d prefer the bag you featured for the men. It looks comfortable to carry and has a good overall shape to wear close to the body.
And for straps, I love those that automatically close (snappers, perhaps) and secure closures at the top.
Great looking products.
December 28th, 2008 at 2:23 am
Well, I have bought lots of your products and even inquired about 6months ago about actually increasing the size of the satchel. Is your increasing the depth a result of my request? Beautiful bag, I want it!
December 28th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
I love the look of the bag,it is modern yet has a retro look about it.I love satchels,I have since I was a kid and watched Kung Fu.I always wondered what was in that bag that David Carradine carried.I have as of yet to be disapointed by anything I have bought from you guys.Thank you Don

I want to remove the binding from Bible and then have it three-hole-punched and reinserted into this new three ring binder. But yuck! There is nothing pleasing to me about traipsing around with a three-ring binder containing my most precious book. what can we wrap up my three-ring bible in?

March 11th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Wow! I’d completely forgotten about this. Thanks for the reminder. Every time I come to the website I see something else to drool over (metaphorically speaking that is, what a mess!). The books remind me of the MYST series of books (yes they are connected to the computer game). One of the themes in the stories is the account of a people who write books and travel to the worlds described in them - through the actual pages of the books. It’s such a cool idea and your books remind me of the ones “they use” to write in. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks for the email reminder and I’ll check in more regularly from now on.

Your products are top notch. I’ve bought several bible covers for family members. I’ve been wanting to purchase the large journal for quite some time and now it is offered at a great savings. I can hardly wait for my journal to arrive. Look forward to opportunity to own another great product from your company.

ARTBEAST- I just saw that you asked for photos of the custom moleskine cover you made before my trip to Scotland in 2007. Can you email me, and let me know where to send the photos?
March 12th, 2009 at 3:07 am
I love my giant “book of Shadows”!!! It is my journal, scrapbook and drawing book. The pages just beg for the pen or pencil and the leather is so gorgously soft. I love all of your stuff and will keep ordering….thank you!

I bought a RA journal cover and had it engraved with one of my friends favourite sayings…he says it was the best birthday gift he ever got. It was simply a work of art and he loved his Moleskine as well, inspiring me to get one.

I Love your work. Each book I get from you is more lovely than the one before it. Your products make the most beautiful and meaningful gifts. I get “oohs” and “ahhs” each time I give one, or let mine be seen. You are surely the gods of leather books!
March 18th, 2009 at 12:31 am
Just as your beautiful products -may I say that leather bound or moleskin journals are something to cherish if ever one is lucky enough to receive one as a gift. When as a nurse in Germany my grandmother received her tan & maroon leather Tagebuch (Journal) in 1877 from her student nurses where she recorded daily in her Tagebuch (journal) before coming to America - after her death it was handed down to my mother Hedwig Pfeil- she kept it daily until her death at 94 . - After her death I wrote a true published historical biography based on the excerpts in the Tagebuch (Journal) - The journal was then given to the “Save Lucy” committee (Historical Registry in Atlantic City, NJ. )– All which proves beautiful and durable journals like you sell can be a lasting wonderful gift for anyone - especially now with the new Ancestry craze- for recording history in the making.

Hello, hello!
It is Ernest Hemingway walking down the sidewalk in Key West with a pen in hand untying his Journal. Stopping for a moment he then folds over his leather journal-to add a few lines of thought.
Upon resuming his walk he goes back to the ambiance of both a sunny, slightly cool day with the ocean only a few yards away, he stops at a quaint restaurant to have a Mojito. Upon leaving the bistro another patron calls to him, “Ernest, you left your journal behind. You do not want to do that.”
“Thanks Scott, I didn’t see you in there my friend; however, I am happy you saw me.” Tipping his straw hat to Scott, Ernest walks away humming AND thinking, ‘Yes, I do not ever want to be without Magical Journal.’
TODAY_______________________________________
What a pleasure it was to receive the leather folder with the insert pages. Just touching the soft leather made me want to create my gift more exciting than it might.
It is for a dear friend, who has turned 80!
It is not completed. Dec. 22 was his birthday. He is Hindu. I also purchased the fabric pouch for the presentation folder. That gave the final touch and truly the luxury of presenting treasures ALL FOR HIM and custom made.
Oh, I hope my work will be as good as is the hand embossed presentation folder. It has clear pages to insert work that is two-sided; additionally, if you have a one-sided piece there are classy black separator sheets between each transparent sheet.
I have not completed it and this is March. Because of the quality and unique exterior I was enticed by my mind to do the best I can.
Thank you so very much and have faith in RENAISSANCE ART and each person who make the Company what it is. Each aspect of RENAISSANCE ART is First Class when flying or taking the rails!

I am blown away at the things I have found here at this web site. My son is looking for a leather bound blank book for a school project. We have been searching the web. By far the most wonderful things we have seen are here. This book would be perfect for his project.
April 3rd, 2009 at 5:40 am
I must add one more thing here . For my 90th. birthday on March 24th. 2009 -I received a “TAGEBUCH” (JOURNAL) however it was not one of your beautiful leather bound Tagebuch’s” (Journals) so naturally I was a little disappointed- maybe for my next birthday??- ha- good thought- Meanwhile many are reading the excerpts in my mother HEDWIG”S Tagebuch that she inherited from her mother in 1899- she was able to take it to “THE ELEPHANT HOTEL” in Atlantic City, NJ with her when she went there to take a job as “Child’s Nurse” for the owner’s (the Gertzens) infant daughterCarrie. With all the good reviews I am only happy that my grandmother Maria Kinski (a nurse in Berling, Germany) who reeived her Tagebuch (Journal) as a Christmas present in 1877 from her student nurses had the forethought to keep the journal daily to hand down to her future family - when she died my mother HEDWIG inherited the TAGEBUCH (Journal) today that same leather bound journal is now a part of the HISTORICAL ELEPHANT HOTEL’s LUCY and on the National Historical Registry in Atlantic City.

Beautiful work. I just recently saw some leather journals at a renaissance fair and found this site online. I think I’m hooked!
May 11th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
I bought a Renaissance Art book when I was younger at a favourite childhood destination of mine, and I returned the year later to buy yet another. I came across this website not too long ago, and having not visited the place where I had originally bought my books, I haven’t obtained a new one any time recently. Well… I think things will change. I’ve been combing through your website to try and find a book that I do NOT want, let alone want. (So far… zero). They are beautiful and inspire me to write with such interest and zeal.
Thank you so much for inspiring my mind, among other things.

June 20th, 2009 at 1:07 am
I stumbled upon your site quite by ‘accident’ and I’m having great difficulty leaving it! Like many ‘post-modern’ cyber-weary people, I harbour a longing for items of substance, non-disposable well-made things that show the work of an artisan’s hand. James Nesbitt’s observation that high-tech life generates a longing for high-touch items like hand-bound books, leather satchels, and fine writing instruments is epitomised by your enterprise. It is wonderful to see the promise of the pre-internet 60s and 70s realised in beautiful hand-made leather items that can reach customers all over the world. Each book cover, folio cover, and satchel communicates an entire ethic that is reflected in your ‘very 60s’ random giveaway. Long may you prosper!

I’d love to win one. I love fine leather.

What a nice looking journal. I would love to win this, especially since it has the lay flat feature. I’m a lefty and hate fighting the paper to write down things. I am also looking forward to doing some writing as I am only one week into a ten week recuperation for hip surgery. Walking with a walker and no driving for five more weeks!! I am studying up on your products for a purchase after my birthday next week. Regards to the readers of this site.

I would love to see if winning one would inspire me.

Last year I gave a beautiful leather tie cover and journal as a gift. I wanted it for myself - it was so well done. It even smelled terrific. He said it reminded him of his childhood back in Liverpool…

Having recently been blessed with a small whirlwind of gleeful destruction, or Grandson as society dictates, I am rediscovering my inner artist that was sacrificed on the altar of academic capitalism. A journalist voyage through my grandson’s formative years need quality unique journals worthy of a family keepsake and the Renaissance Art products are just that…..Now if only they could come with a StarTrekesque “cloaking device” to prevent huge blue-eyes from pinpointing really interesting things for small wee pink digits to scamper all over !!
November 24th, 2009 at 6:43 am
Count me in! I love your materials; beautiful and durable!
November 24th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I love you guys! I had this great Barnes & Noble (ptoeey) “refillable” journal that my hubby bought for me, but I could never get a refill for it. Now you have come to my rescue. Many thanks, Paula

I am looking for a rustic leather bound journal so I am excited to possibly win!
November 30th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Hi,
I thought the rules for the contest stated that the Friday following the post date was the cut-off for the contest? If it has changed: I would use a short leather strap for a handle, keeping it in a bag or a side pocket in the car for instant use..
November 30th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Hello,
I wonder if this is still going on???
I would like to win one, if I could. I collect different books to write in, for maybe one day I will write the story of a winner that will get published in it. (Fingers crossed)
Thank you for this chance.

December 24th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
lots of ideas for you — and how do you burn a pandora station with no burner? Yeah, I do have one of THOSE computers, but in redemption, I do run 8 computers 24/7 all hooked to World Community Grid, a distributed computing site that right now is involved with helping to try working on drugs for malaria, putting vitamin A in rice to keep children from going blind, helping find cures for childhood cancers, working on projects to produce clean energy (ultimately solar in origin be it waves in the oceans to wind), helping with research into Muscular Dystrophy, fighting HIV/AIDS, figuring out how human proteins fold, etc — world wide we have done over 303 MILLION and some odd YEARS of research — working together we CAN make a difference, and th irony of using that which we are trying to conserve to find a way not to use it its not lost on me, yet how you burn a Pandora CD is beyond me since my computers are mostly throwaways which limp along some at circa 100 megaHz. yet sans screen — (or one with an 18 way switch [2 tens wired together with position number 10 rotary of switch 1 linking to position 1 of switch 2] and one screen I can see the comptuer if I wish) the energy used IS ironic.
so maybe they’ll accept it some other way — we’ll see - sometimes good works account for something. And would I really stoop so low as to barter away good works for one of these journals? nah. but it was worth a try, it’s amazing what some people call ‘journals’ — the closest I ever came was keeping lab books or observational data for my master degrees. - ummmm I wonder if keeping track of student scores on exams and mid/final exams counts as ‘journaling’ or if its more of a Logging - and are Logging and Journaling the same? Ever read a Captains Log? Some read better than many books I’ve read. And some contain far greater entertainment and truth. Having help put a long neglected historical library together in the middle of Nevada for a town which barely exists any longer, The logs of some ancient volunteer fire departments read more like an action novel that most action novels do — well, work to do — as now my lone set of speakers seems to have eatten a part of the Last Supper - that’s why ther’s a table cloth on the table Jesus was sneaking them food at the table! — Dream well, Travel well. Help whom you can.

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.

Hello.
I love your books! they are what all books should be. works of art to touch the heart and set the soul alight. i’m hoping to win a journal as I like you am at the stage in my life when my story needs to be told, my thought, ideas, passions and desires need a home.
i’ve seen many journals but none felt right. how can one pour his soul into something that was made without thought. no, my journal needs to be as beautiful and thought provoking as i feel my life has been.
i hope to hear from you. either way though i know i’ll be back. lol!

The 15″ MacBook Pro is lonely and cold. For two years it has toiled day and night with neither a hiccup, nor the thanks of its grateful master.
It’s silver surface gleams mightily in the fresh spring sunshine. Rebirth is here! But alas, the little MacBook Pro is naked to the world, with nothing to cloth it but the loving arms of its master.
When the little MacBook Pro is allowed to rest, let it be in a cloak of leather. Oh my!
