Reason to Keep Your Writing Resolution #2: Sometimes writing can become a chore. Often, like cleaning the bathroom, the worst part is starting. Try this tip from zenhabits (about decluttering, but it works here, too!): Set a timer for 15 minutes (or 5, 10, 20) before you sit down to write. The intimidation of a blank page tends to fall away when you set a manageable time limit, and, it gives you the option to end or continue as you wish. At Renaissance Art, our books (and bags) endure beyond normal use or abuse. To prove this, we took a book with no closure (cuz that style has less protected pages), our Skinny Large, and threw it against our outside studio stucco wall, kicked it across the ground, and tried to get the dog to fetch it… to illustrate the unbreakability of our books. If we had a baseball bat we would have used that too. The fact is… the more our books get abused… the more time they are used… the softer the leather gets, the richer the patina on the leather… the better they look and feel.
